About Salisbury Playhouse

Salisbury Playhouse is one of England's leading producing theatres — a regional powerhouse that creates original productions, many of which transfer to London's West End. The Main House seats 517 and the more intimate Salberg Studio seats 150.

The programme spans new writing, classics, musicals and family shows. The Playhouse is renowned for its commitment to bold, ambitious work: over the past decade, productions including Handbagged, The 39 Steps and Kinky Boots have all been developed here before West End runs.

The Playhouse also hosts visiting companies, comedy nights, live music events and screenings. The on-site bar and café is open from 10am on performance days.

One of the finest regional theatres in England. We have seen several productions here and they consistently deliver work of West End quality. The Salberg Studio is particularly intimate and exciting.

Salisbury Playhouse is world class. We saw A Midsummer Night's Dream — bold, inventive and brilliantly performed. The building is well-designed with excellent sightlines throughout and a good pre-show

Always a reliable evening out. The Playhouse takes creative risks that most regional theatres avoid. Booking is essential for popular shows — the Christmas productions sell out months in advance.
